Why Answers aren’t the Solutions

I know it sounds counter intuitive. If you ask a question and get an answer we immediately assume that that answer is the solution. And in a way you are correct.

But, why is it when we know the answer we don’t always apply it. It is true and you know it. How often do we know something but our circumstances don’t change? Why didn’t we apply the correct answer?

Because, knowing the answer isn’t ALWAYs the solution.

Is it?

We have to determine a solution separate from the answer. We know the answer and it is not the solution. I know I need to (fill in the blank). So why don’t I ? What is it that keeps me from applying that really simple answer?

Think about it. What is something you know the answer to but, you just don’t do it?

Because things just aren’t ever that simple. Life is complicated and messy. Things have relationships that go beyond the seen. They are intertwined like the vines that threaten to swallow up trees that that they climb. You can start pulling and you discover more attachments than you even thought possible. Tugging on one strand yields you several hundred strands and a mess that you didn’t anticipate.

Unraveling a solution is more complicated than simply throwing out an answer. This is especially the case when we are talking about how to change behavior, accomplish goals, over come obstacles. This is why we need to understand the difference between having an answer and having a solution.
